The top 5 symbols include the wolf cub, bear, bronze-coloured moose, golden leopard and grey owl. The lowest paying symbols include the 4 poker suit symbols. To complement the fun and playful background is the equivalent in music. There are additional audio effects that pop up when a payline is formed or feature is triggered. Some of these audio effects could include the howling of the animated cub, who sits to the left of the reels or roar of one of the forest creatures when you create a winning payline.

Dark King: Forbidden Riches, an online slot game by NetEnt.

Dark King: Forbidden Riches has a fantasy theme that includes skulls and a knight in a suit of armor. On the reels, you’ll see medieval-style A to 10 card symbols, as well as skeleton warriors. The game’s interface certainly holds your gaze as you spin the reels on this menacing slot machine. When it comes to the audio experience, you can expect a brooding, orchestral soundtrack that enhances the game’s realism. This video slot can be played on desktop and mobile – either way, you get the same high-class design across all devices.

You’ll find great features in Dark King: Forbidden Riches that can help your bid to win big! The faceless Dark King icon is the game’s highest-paying symbol: It will award you 1, 7.5, or 25x your total stake if you land (respectively) 3, 4, or 5 on a payline. Look out for wilds multipliers, free spins, transforming wilds, and “sticky wild hotspots” for more exciting reel action.

Bonuses and jackpots

Based on the game’s features, Dark King: Forbidden Riches is undoubtedly one of the best online slots that offer sensational bonuses, keeping you on the edge of your seat. Let’s take a look at the game’s exciting bonus features:

The Wild Multiplier feature

Keep a lookout for the shimmering blue orb, as it’s the game’s wild symbol. The wild can replace all symbols except the scatter to help you form winning combinations. If you land more than one wild, you can unlock the multiplier feature. When 2, 3, 4, or 5 wilds appear on the reels, you will unlock 2, 3, 4, or 5 multipliers, respectively. The wilds are active in both the base game and the free spins round.

Free Spins feature

The red gemstone represents the game’s scatter symbol, and when you land 3 or more, you’ll trigger the game’s Free Spins feature. When 3 or more scatters are collected, they are stored in the Dark King’s sword, which the mysterious monarch will dig into the ground to open the Free Spins feature. Look out for the sticky wild hotspots, which kick in before the free spins bonus round on reels 2, 3, and 4. This feature will give you 1 extra free spin for each wild.

Disturbed slot

According to the modern fount of knowledge, the internet, the word ‘wolfkin’ refers to ‘nonhuman and non-wolf fantasy creatures that have features of a wolf.’ Credit to Wiktionary for the definition, which brings us to Wolfkin, an online slot set in a world of wolves and, ahem, a scantily clad lady from software designer Red Tiger. As well as this unusual mix of ideas, Wolfkin seeks to entertain gamblers with gaming elements such as Wolven Flame wild symbol conversions, a full reel Wolfkin super wild, and free spins where the full reel wild is locked for the entire duration.

When diving into this domain of wolves and their kin, the first impressions were fairly good. Red Tiger has a certain way of chucking pixels together, and Wolfkin possesses a dense look that should kindle the interest of fantasy-leaning players. Along with canine references, Wolfkin sprinkles Celtic touches here and there, which add a measure of mystery. The game is set in, dunno, some sort of outdoor treasure area, with gold coins spread about the ground, thick heavy chains leading off somewhere, and muscular sculptures set to either side of the game grid. The game invites players to ‘Awaken the wolves to earn their gold’, though it’s not clear how or why these wolves got their paws on some rich stuff, either adding fuel to the mystery or ratcheting up disbelief.

Slot Mexican Chilies - Game Review

In the middle of this strange place sits Wolfkin’s 5-reel, 4-row gaming grid, which is equipped with 25 fixed paylines. All pay symbols must land from the leftmost side of the grid across paylines on adjacent reels in order to trigger a reward. Wolfkin is a medium volatile game offering two ways of being played. One is by picking a stake of 10 p/c to £/€100 per spin and going for it, or by buying one of two features. The first way has a default RTP of 95.72% while buying features bumps that figure up a notch to 95.73%.

As for winning combinations, it is possible for these to be 3, 4, or 5 symbols in length. Full five-of-a-kind wins are worth 0.8 to 1.6 times the bet when made up of the lower value clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades, rising to 3.2 to 12 times the stake for five rings, necklaces, knives, horns, or chalice high pays. The game has two wild symbols – a golden Wolf Wild and the 1×4 Wolfkin super wild, sometimes just referred to as the Wolfkin. The Wolfkin super wild always lands fully in view on the third reel only, and if Stone Wolf scatters also land in view at the same time, they are transformed into Wolf Wilds. If Wolf Wilds create a five-symbol winning line of themselves, it is worth 12 times the bet.

Wolfkin: Slot Features

Wolfkin slot

This part of the review will be pretty brief, with just the Wolven Flame, free spins and bonus buy features to cover, none of which are overly complicated.

Wolven Flame

During a spin, it is possible the Wolfkin may spread her wings to remove some of the symbols that have landed on the reels. After this occurs, only Stone Wolf scatters will land, which are then transformed into Wolf Wilds by the Wolfkin. The Wolven Flame can only trigger once on a single spin.

Free Spins

Getting 3 free spins scatters on the first, third, and fifth reels awards 7 free spins. During the base game, it is not possible to land scatters at the same time as a Wolfkin super wild. For the full duration of the free spins round, the Wolfkin super wild is locked in position on the middle reel until the feature ends. Should 2 scatters hit on reels 1 and 5, then +3 additional free spins are awarded.

Feature Buy

Wolfkin’s buy function lets players directly buy two of the game’s features. These are a guaranteed Wolfkin super wild for 10x the bet or free spins entry for 80 times the bet.

Wolfkin: Slot Verdict

After an initially pleasing first look, interest in Wolfkin went into a rapid decline. This occurred following a browse-through of the game’s paytable and seeing what it could do when in action. Interestingly, despite the fantasy/wolf subject matter, Wolfkin sparked mental connections with several previous Red Tiger slots like Trillionaire, Hammer of Gods, Ancient’s Blessing, 1942 Sky Warrior, Agent Royale, War of Gods, a few games, really. What they tend to share in common is a lack of major depth and firepower once we saw past their uber-glossy outer shells. Games that tickled the senses, to begin with, but failed to capitalize on the initial rush of intrigue with much in the way of chunky substance.

So it was with Wolfkin where whatever level of intrigue it started with evaporated faster than dog slobber on a scorching hot pavement. It does look quite nice, and if the mysterious lady amongst the wolves idea appeals, then Wolfkin might be the vehicle that whisks willing players off to a fantasy realm for a while. Have to say these wolves don’t actually have a lot of treasure, though, despite what the game blurb might say. Get this beast a howling, wild transforming and whatever else it might be capable of doing at full strength and the best it’ll muster up is a surprisingly meagre 784.4 times the bet.

With a figure like that, if you’re not completely smitten with Wolfkin’s world, there’s not much left over to hook players in. It relies heavily on wilds and wild conversions to provide the bulk of the thrills, but they didn’t possess much in the way of heavy-duty firepower to really light the board up. Wolfkin looks pretty good while it’s doing what it can and presents an interesting concept, but was ultimately a rather toothless in the end, all things considered.
