The Legend of Musashi Features
When The Legend of Musashi opens up, you’ll immediately be a little overwhelmed. This is completely understandable as there is a lot going on with the reels. However, the gameplay is quite simply broken down.
This game contains cascades that are triggered after wins. These remove the winning symbols and add new ones to fill in the gaps. Evidently, this leads to potentially even more wins.
At the bottom of the screen, there are symbols that are collected and filled when wilds appear. Power Modes are activated when this is filled awarding lives between 3 to 10. This turns wilds into expanded wilds. Ultimately, this continues until there are no more lives left.
Every time there is a cascade, a panel multiplier increases by 1 and resets to x1 when there are no new cascades. Thankfully, super free spins multipliers do not reset and continue to increase.
Like most Peter & Sons slots, this one contains a free spins round. When 3 or more scatters land on the reels, 10 free spins are triggered. Wilds will convert into expanding wilds leading to bigger wins.
To trigger the super free spins, 650 scatters must have been collected. This awards 10 free spins but the multiplier does not reset in this feature.
Free Spins
To trigger this bonus round, you’ll need 3 or more scatters to gain 10 free spins. During free spins, all wilds turn into expanded wilds leading to larger wins.
Power Modes
When wilds are collected, the Power Modes features are triggered. Up to 10 lives are awarded and wilds are transformed into expanded wilds during this time.
The Legend of Musashi Review
Back in 1935, Japanese novelist Eiji Yoshikawa decided to revolutionise the martial arts world with the epic novel Musashi. This follows the fictionalised account of Miyamoto Musashi who was known for Japanese swordsmanship.
In today’s society, Musashi is known as a legend who is synonymous with Japanese culture and samurai. He is even called Kensei in Japan which translates to sword saint.
Wanting to pay tribute, Peter & Sons decided to create an online slot inspired by this character with The Legend of Musashi. With a faithful Japanese design as well as mighty features, this slot has the potential to do Musashi’s reputation justice.
Design
It’s clear that the developers definitely wanted to pay homage to the legendary figure with a nod to classic Japanese art. In the background of the slot, there are traditional watercolour paintings that feel like a mixture of Utagawa Kuniyoshi paired with Peter & Sons’ unique style.
There’s no denying just how beautiful this slot looks. At the bottom of the screen, there are relevant Japanese items such as shamisens, rice barrels and paper lanterns. They each bring the slot to life even more.
One interesting design choice is the zodiac animals at the bottom of the screen. Almost all of the zodiac creatures are here at the bottom which is a strange addition to the slot.
Despite this, the design is beautiful and feels like a tasteful slot for Japanese culture. On the reels, there are different character symbols with geishas, emperors and Musashi himself.
To top it all off, there is a drumbeat throughout the base game. Of course, this is accompanied by stunning flutes and chanting throughout to create something spectacular that manages to fit with the slot and also build up suspense.
Gameplay
It may seem daunting at first, but the gameplay is quite simple. In the base game, you can trigger the Power Modes to add expanded wilds but that’s about it.
The real fun begins with the free spins round triggered by landing 3 or more scatters. This gets even more thrilling with the super free spins which contain multipliers that do not reset.
The Legend of Musashi is straightforward with the gameplay but does not compromise the entertainment factor. In order to get started with the game, you must set the bet level at the bottom and click the spin button. It’s as simple as that!
Win Potential
You never know what to expect with Peter & Sons, but thankfully The Legend of Musashi is quite rewarding. It begins with a strong RTP of 96.10% which is over the average standard. This is matched with the high volatility level leading to bigger wins, but these are less frequent.
With a high volatility slot, we recommend having a dedicated bankroll for this slot to sustain yourself. If you do this, then you can see wins of up to 20,000x stake. When the super free spins are triggered, the maximum win is a lot easier to reach with the multipliers not resetting.
Our Verdict
We were pleasantly surprised with this slot as we found the gameplay to be intriguing and deliver something new from Peter & Sons. It’s nothing completely original, but it feels refreshing from the slot developer and we appreciated the Power Mode feature.
The Legend of Musashi is a visual marvel from Peter & Sons and feels like a classic visual slot from them. Prior to this game, we didn’t know anything about Musashi, but it’s safe to say that he has new fans due to the magic of this slot.

Megaton Musashi: Wired — Everything We Know
In a bid to broaden its horizons, Level-5, a Japan-based studio behind the likes of Dark Cloud and Ni no Kuni, will be bringing region-locked Megaton Musashi to the rest of the world. And the best part is, this newfound repackaging, aptly titled Megaton Musashi: Wired, will be heading to both consoles and PC later this year. Or at least, that’s what it’s shaping up for, anyway.
So, now that we know it’s being localized for the rest of the globe, what more do we need to know about it? Well, if you just so happen to be a budding mecha enthusiast (or a die-hard fan of multiplayer games, for that matter), then you’ll definitely want to brush up on your facts before placing that all-important pre-order. Speaking of which, here’s everything you need to know about it.
What Is Megaton Musashi: Wired?
Megaton Musashi: Wired is an upcoming action-RPG by Level-5. It’s also an extended version of the same game that launched exclusively in Japan back in November 2021. Promising additional content that will be suited for a global audience, Level-5 made it clear that future players will be able to play from all corners of the globe, with cross-play now being implemented on consoles and PC.
At its heart, Megaton Musashi is an RPG that features a unique blend of 2.5D open exploration, and real-time combat that revolves entirely around massive machines and grand-scale arenas. Either alone or in a team, players will have the chance to engage in epic single-player encounters, or in 3v3 clashes via the ever-popular Colosseum Battle mode. True to its word, Level-5 will enable a cross-play function, meaning players, whatever their console preference, will be able to wage war against teams of another platform.
Story
Megaton Musashi is set in the near future—specifically the aftermath of an alien invasion that wiped out 99% of humankind. Having drilled a hole into the earth and forced the final 1% into hiding, the species—”Dracters”—now move to monopolize the entire planet. However, in a last-ditch effort to restore humanity to the fallen world, the %1 turn to “Rogues”, giant mechs with extraordinary abilities. This is where you, one of the final remaining pilots left on earth, will take your stand and, hopefully, turn the tide of war against the Drectors.
Gameplay
Megaton Musashi: Wired plays out in a similar fashion to other action-RPGs; it divides its time between semi-open world exploration—sections in which you can explore the environment and interact with characters to unravel additional layers of the story—and full-fledged combat, which allows players to assume control of powerful mechanical bots and engage in fast-paced battles. Wired, while staying true to the original game, will expand on this by bringing “exclusive content” for the global release. As for what that exclusive content will be, though, is still anybody’s guess.
Megaton Musashi can be played either alone or online, courtesy of Colosseum Battle—a mode that lets you take on deadly mecha suits and other players in its specialized 3v3 events. During said events, you will need to both build and evolve your one-of-a-kind robot in order to maximize your chances of winning the epic bouts laid out before you. Simply put, you’ll need to build, battle, and upgrade your way to the pinnacle of the mecha-based metropolis, all the while working to whittle down the alien faction that oppresses the final fragments of earth.
Development
In case you missed it, Level-5 had initially brought Megaton Musashi to consoles back in 2021. Problem was, it was only released in Japan, which of course meant a great deal of the world missed out on the opportunity to soak up its mecha-based multiplayer world. To rectify this, Level-5 conceived Wired, an international version that supposedly boasts “exclusive content” for first-timers to enjoy.
At present, we can’t say for certain when Megaton Musashi: Wired will grace our systems. What we do know, however, is that it’ll be heading to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC via Steam at some stage this year. So, you know, that’s a start.
