Safari Gold Megaways slot by Blueprint Gaming is their 19th. version using the Big Time Gaming Megaways license and hopefully we’ll see something a bit different here. The reels are animal skin and lie over the predictable background of the African savanna and naturally the music is of a drum beat tribal type found on Raging Rhino for example. Initially the game gives the impression it’s going to be similar to Wolf Legend Megaways or another of their game with an animal theme, Return of Kong Megaways. Hopefully I’m wrong, but either way will embarking on this safari mean gold for our bankroll?
On The Reels.
We start with 6 reels of varying rows on Safari Gold Megaways slot with a scroll of 4 single symbols appearing over the centre 4 reels. This results in a minimum of 324 ways and a maximum of 117,649 for each spin and we can play for 20 coins right up to 10.00 per spin. Your pays are exactly the same as on Bonanza or Diamond Mine but there the Lion is 50x bet for 6-of-a-kind, Buffalo 7.5x, Cheetah or Elephant 2x and six card values from 1.75 down to 0.8x. You can see Mystery Lion Discs appear randomly anywhere during a spin which transform to the same tile when they appear. The Tree Wild only appears on the top scrolling reel and Diamonds are the scatters, so a few Raging Rhino similarities here!
Free Games
You need 4 to 7 Diamond scatters to trigger a wheel which can give up to 15 spins for 4, 20 for 5, 25 for 6 and if very lucky 30 for all 7. When the wheel spins it offers a combination of spins and starting multiplier so the worst is 5 spins starting at 1x and the best 15 starting at 10x. The maximum amount of spins possible on the wheel increases in line with the amount of triggering Diamonds as described just above. You can get 5 or 10 extra spins for 3 or 4 Diamonds appearing on the scrolling reel only during them as they aren’t on the reels. You tend to see ore occurrences of the Mystery Lion Discs and unlike in the base game these will always produce a winning combination.
Our View.
Safari Gold Megaways slot brings us absolutely nothing new to the now tired Megaways mechanic. It’s simply Diamond Mine with the varying spins and multiplier wheel from some of their other Megaways slots applied. True, the graphics and soundtrack are very easy to live with but overall, despite the good 96.50% RTP, I can’t escape the feeling of having seen it all before — many times. You get the huge potential of this maths model as always but we seem to have reached the point where each new Megaways game is simply a rehash of others with a different theme only. This is one safari you don’t need to embark on.
