Slot Ali Baba — Game Review
Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves Slot Review
With Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves, the well-known software studio Leander Games replicates the wildly popular folk tale of the same name from the Arabian Nights collection of stories. The two central characters in the game are crafted to resemble Aladdin and Princess Jasmine from Disney’s take on the eponymous story from the same collection.
Leander’s rendition of Ali Baba utilizes 5 reels and 20 rather than 40 win lines (as would have been more appropriate in our opinion), with players having the option to adjust their number. Wagers start at as little as $0.01 per active line and can reach $100 at the highest betting level. Despite its cartoonish graphics, the release attracts attention with its great special features, including a bonus game, extended wilds, and a free spins round with variable volatility.

Symbols and Winning Combinations in Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves
With its quirky graphics and oriental music playing in the background, Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves perfectly captures the essence of the popular Arabian Nights tale. All icons incorporated in the paytable match the slot’s theme and storyline, starting with the scattered sack of gold which pays in both directions in any reel position. You need three, four, or five scattered sacks for payouts of 5x, 25x, and 100x the total bet per spin.
All other symbols incorporated into the game return prizes when aligning on one or more paylines from left to right. Respectively, wins resulting from them are multiplied by the stake per line. The software developers have suitably picked Ali Baba himself to represent the top payer in the slot. Two to five Ali Babas can yield payouts of 5x to 2,500x the line bet. The thief with the red turban produces prizes of 4x, 40x, 200x, and 800x the line stake for two to five matches.
Two to five macaques can enrich you with 3x to 300x your wager per line. All other symbols require at least three matches to pay out. The camel and the cobra can boost your session bankroll with up to 250x and 150x the line bet. The maximum payouts for five scarabs and five rings are 120x and 100x. A five-of-a-kind with the dagger, the flute, and the drum pays 75x, 60x, and 50x the line stake, respectively.
Bonus Features of Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves
The princess symbol is the extended wild in Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves and replaces everything except for the scatter and the bonus icons. Speaking of bonus symbols, these are represented by a red pot that appears on the second, third, and fourth reels to trigger the Gold or Bandit side game.
Your goal here is to pick and uncover six out of twelve vases, some of which contain instant cash prizes while others have macaques hidden inside. When it starts, the side game will randomly award you one to three protections from Ali Baba. Without Ali protecting you, the thief with the red turban will snatch the instant prizes if you make wrong guesses and pick vases with hidden monkeys. The software will multiply your bonus winnings by the triggering stake.
The round of Open Sesame Free Spins triggers when you align three free spins symbols on the first, third, and fifth reels. We particularly liked the fact players get to choose their volatility level during the feature. They can pick from the following three options:
- Low volatility – up to 15 free spins, 4x maximum multipliers, and 4 picks
- Medium volatility – up to 20 free spins, 5x maximum multipliers, and 6 picks
- High volatility – up to 25 free spins, 6x maximum multipliers, and 8 picks
Once you select one of the three alternatives, you must pick four to eight treasure chests to collect their free spins and multipliers. The round of free spins then starts at the same stake you used when you triggered it. The game also offers several standard functionalities such as the Autoplay, which enables you to play up to a hundred spins without interruption.
Verdict
Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves may not look visually impressive with its cartoonish visuals, but it is still a great game that is fun to play. The two special features are highly engaging and will certainly keep you invested in the gameplay. With a hit frequency of 27.11% and maximum payouts of up to 3,195x the overall stake, this Leander release definitely deserves the attention of slotheads looking to win big.

Ali Baba Slots
Ali Baba Slots is a slot machine simulator with an Arabian theme. Like typical slot machines, the game features three reels with symbols, which the player can spin using the lever to the right. The reels will eventually stop, forming together random symbol combinations. Only some of them are winning combinations. The player can bet between 1 and 5 tokens. Depending on the bet and the symbol combinations a player can win between three and several thousands of tokens from a single spin.
The game’s main particularity is the presence of a short story detailing the adventure of Ali Baba and the Seven Lost Jewels through a series of illustrations in the center-top of the screen. A new scene is activated when you score either three Magic Carpet symbols in the old version or whenever a reel stops at the Genie symbol in the new version.

Ali Baba Slot Review
Is it your turn to yell ‘Open Sesame’ and find the cave of riches hidden in this Ali Baba mobile slot? Only with a little patience.
Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves slot, to give this video slot it’s full name, is one of Leander Games older and simpler slots, yet one that hasn’t lost its appeal even now.
Otherwise it has some fairly slow spins. Not “you son of a two footed camel!” slow, but still frustrating.
Also quick tip: if you already have Ali Baba mobile slot open on another window, it won’t open again in another window. We spent close to 40 minutes shouting at our iPad begging the game to load. Which it had, but on another tab.
And now for the good news
There’s a reason why this Leander slot game has remained popular years after its initial release.
It’s a fun Disney-esque theme that has everything you need for an Arabian fairytale. The handsome hero, the cute monkey, the belly dancing girl, the camels… It works. Though it could be Aladdin or Ali Baba and we wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
The only thing we’d say is that when you win big or start the slots bonus features, you get an ugly black banner with lime green writing at the bottom of your screen, reminiscent of early 90’s computers. Really, there’s no excuse for that.
The Ali Baba Bonus Game features
Two things makes the Ali Baba slot game stand out.
The slave girl is the wild symbol and expands any time a win can be made. But to be honest, at best she keeps things interesting as you win 5x your bet on the base game. Every so often you’ll also get a fun simple click the vase for instant cash bonus, where you’ll win anything from 20x to 40x your bet at most.
Things heat up during the wonderfully unique and yet incredibly frustrating free spins bonus game.
The cave of free spin wonders
You’ll have the option to open sesame three caves of wonder doors. We go into more details in the games feature below into how they work.
But pick wrong and you’ll only get 10 free spins with a 1x multiplier. Because we are risk takers and take door number 3 far more often than we should, this is what we got, far too often.
If you want to walk away with about 40x your bet, we recommend door one, were you have higher chance of getting about 12 free spins and a 2x or 3x multiplier. Door 2 is for when you are running out of cash but still want to try your hand at some larger multipliers, and door three, as we said, is when you want to get the big wins in this game, with a top jackpot win of up to wonderful 750x your bet on one line win.
A tempestuous feature for a tempestuous slot.

In-game bonus features
Expanded Wild: The dancing girl is wild and expands throughout the game if she can create a winning line.
She replaces all slot symbols except scatters, free spins, and bonus symbols.
Scatter: The bag of gold is the scatter and pays no matter where they land in the game. Get five to win 100 times your bet.
Gold or Bandit Bonus: Get three vases anywhere on screen and you’ll trigger a simple second-screen click me bonus.
You’ll have 12 vases to pick from and 6 picks. Which is exactly how many prizes are hiding in the vases. The other six hold monkeys, which for some reason, brings the evil magician onto the screen, where he will smash one of the vase with money.
Sometimes that means you lose the chance at the money, sometimes he ‘fails’ and you win the money in the vase.
Really, it’s better to not catch any of the monkeys, but even if you do, mostly you stand a good chance of walking away with the instant cash prize.
Free Spins: We were so confused when we first got to this bonus feature. Then, once we understood it, we loved it.
You have three doors:
- Door 1: up to 15 free spins and 4x multiplier (high chances)
- Door 2: up to 20 free spins and 5x multiplier (medium chances)
- Door 3: up to 25 free spins and 6x multiplier (low chances)
Door 3 seems like the obvious choice right? But this is only the start.
Once you click on the cave, you go to a second screen with 12 treasure chests with free spins and multiplier numbers hiding in them and 6 picks.
If you pick door three, for example, you have to try and get less than 25 free spins and less than 6x multiplier. If you go over either of those numbers the round is null and void, and you get 10 free spins with 1x multiplier.
And let us tell you, when they say high, medium and low chances they mean it. We’ve played with that damn 1x multiplier more times than we can count and it can be frustrating as hell.
The good news is that they apply the multiplier in an unusual way. In that during the whole free spins, you get a sticky dancing girl expanded wild on reel 1, with whatever multiplier you won.
It makes it that little bit easier to get wins at all.
If you got the 10 free spins and 1x multiplier, expect about 20x your bet. If you manage to hit your targets on door 1, you’ll win maybe 40x your bet, door 2 will range from about 50x to 80x your bet and door 3. anything above 80x to much, much higher.
Ali Baba Review Conclusion
If the Ali Baba mobile slot had worked just a little faster on a normal smartphone connection, we would have given this an extra star.
Yet don’t let that stop you playing when at home. It looks beautiful on tablets and iPads, as it does on smartphone, and is a funny easy-to-play slot machine.
Just take our advice and don’t take it badly if you chose the wrong cave to open up. It happens to the best of us, and a little risk is what gambling online is all about.
